Import your script

All three paths start from the scene editor (open your scene first). Pick by what you have:

Have the text? Paste it

Paste the script and My Lines splits it into lines, detects the characters, and asks which one is you. Stage directions in [brackets] are kept but never spoken.

Have a file or paper? Upload it

Final Draft (.fdx) and Fountain (.fountain) scripts are read exactly as written: characters, lines and parentheticals such as (whispering)come straight through, so you go directly to picking your character — no AI guesswork, and parentheticals become each line's delivery direction.

PDF, Word (.docx), RTF and plain text (.txt) extract directly; photos (JPG/PNG and more) go through OCR — good light and a flat page help. If a page was hard to read you'll get a warning and [illegible] marks to review before the lines are created. For these you always see and can correct the extracted text before committing.

Nothing typed at all? Record All

Read the whole scene aloud yourself: toggle between My Lines and Other Characters as you go, and the app transcribes each stretch, creates the lines, and keeps YOUR audio on them — no AI voices involved. Review the transcription before saving; you can fix text and roles line by line.

Limits worth knowing: recordings up to 30 minutes per scene; PDF, Word and image files up to 25 MB (very large scanned PDFs may need splitting); Final Draft, Fountain, RTF and text files up to 5 MB; extracted text caps at 50,000 characters.
